What?-Armed Forces Special Power Act,1958
Act of parliament which provide various immunity to security forces to handle situation in disturbed area as declared by government.

Immunity it provided
1.Arrest without warrant
2.shot anyone with prior warning
3.search and enter into premises for law and order situation
4.immunity of any act done in maintaining law and order situation
5.search any vehicle

Region

2.All 7 sister state of northeast.

Recent development
1.SC-
(i)-no absolute immunity
(ii)-investigation in killing of any civilian or even militant-right to be heard expand even to militant
(iii)-
2.Govt-decentralized power to Assam and Tripura to declare or undeclare disturb area.

Issues
1.Security-not much success in situation eveb after more than 50 yrs of its implementation
2.Rights-Human rights violation by security forces for eg-Mithla case in jnk
3.Eco-so much money spend without much return
4.National Image-as it violate human right which is not in sync with democratic setup

1.Maintained integrity of the nation
2.helped controlling situation from gng out of hands.


Committee recommendation
1.Santosh hedge -law be reviewed every 6 month 

2.2nd arc-repeal of act and make appropriate amendment to unlawful activities prevention act be amnded to deal with law and order situation.
