Reason
1.To do away with multiple exam for various colleges ---thus reducing stress to student----who on average appear on 10 of 50 odd exams
2.To introduce transparency in the exami conduction by various colleges
3.reduce corruption in exam conduction
4.to improve the quality of student to be get selected in the institutions
5.address issue of private institutions selling seat in lakhs
Issue
1.allegedly breached Art-14 by petitioner in madras HC due to variation in difficulty level of qustn paper in different languages
2.state alleged its against their jurisdiction of regulating admission under college in their states
3.different syllabus taught in schools of various state in comparison to syllabus under NEET
4.difficult for rural and underprivileged background
5.Judicial Activism
Challenges
1.State need to be ensure that their Socio-economic priorities will not be effected by centralised regulation
2.variation in syllabi and language issue need to be resolved properly

Short term
1.Exam in multiple languages
2.Some normalisation according to background of aspirant
Long term
1.Improving education level in rural area and across region as doctors need to be professionally expert.
2.reforming education system with more emphasis on Clinial and practical knowledge rather than on craming.
